Bhedaghat

Undoubtedly the most famous tourist destination in Jabalpur, Bhedaghat offers some out of this world views of natural sceneries. Here the Narmada river flows in-between the marble rocks and the white colour of the rocks alongwith the blue turquoise water creates a magical experience. Bhedaghat has a ropeway facility which runs through the top of the entire marble rocks hills and shows us a bird’s eye view of the entire gorge. Bhedaghat is also famous for Dhuandhar waterfalls. As the name suggests in Hindi it means mist coming from the waterfalls. In fact it is true because when the river flows at a high speed through the rocks the splashing water creates drizzles of the river water that spreads up and creates mist. The huge waterfall and it’s high speed through the gorges creates a breathtaking scenery. Tourists in the downstream of the waterfall can do boating and take a glimpse of the marvelous marble rocks. Just imagine doing boating in the turquoise water in full moon when the reflection of the moonlight on the marble rocks creates a dazzling white colouration. Bhedaghat is truly a natural wonder and an unique destination to visit.

Mandla-best place to visit in jabalapur

Mandla is a historical place situated 100 kms from Jabalpur. Mandla is mainly famous for the mahals especially the Moti Mahal, Mantri Mahal, and begum Mahal. All these three mahals depict the historical significance of the great gond dynasty in central India.

Moti Mahal is situated on the banks of Narmada river. The structure is more like a fort than a Mahal. Getting inside can give us a spooky feeling due to the hidden tunnels, vast empty space, and narrow stairways leading to the upper floors and the roof. There are plenty of rooms and huge balconies inside the complex from where we get a splendid view of the river Narmada. The fort has a entry fee of Rs. 20 for every visitor which is used for maintaining this heritage. The Mahal has huge domes, and beautiful architectures of pillars and windows that gives us the relic of the past grandeur. Mantrimahal is a similar like structure which we visited after that whose entry fee is included in the entry fee with Moti Mahal. Climbing at the top of the Mantri Mahal one can see the Moti Mahal and begum Mahal together. The Mahal has a lotus pond in the middle of the Mahal. It has four domes at four corners of the Mahal, creating an exquisite design with pillars. Similar to the Moti Mahal this structure has narrow stairways and plenty of big windows and balconies.

30 kms from Mantri Mahal we then visited the Begum Mahal. This is situated in an isolated place and perhaps the largest architecture in mandla area. The Mahal is surrounded by green paddy fields.

The green colour and the black bricks together makes this Mahal an enormous skillfully done architecture. All these mahals has one common ponds in the middle of the structure.

My last destination in Mandla was Sahastradhara. As the name implies it means there are several waterfalls in the area flowing into the Narmada river. We did see several waterfalls gushing down at high speed into the holy river. The place is famous for a temple in the middle of the river with a pipal tree. In fact sahastradhara everywhere is symbolised with this picture. But very few know about the numerous waterfalls and black mountains which are black stones protruding as rocks on the hills surrounding this place. The white coloured temples on the banks of the Narmada river provide peace and solace. Together the  colour of the river water and white temples provide a mystic experience for a traveller.

Bargi dam- best places to visit in jabalpur

This is another beautiful tourist spot near Jabalpur. Just an hour and a half drive from Jabalpur, this spot is full of adventure for travellers. You can do boating here in the large reservoir and watch the serene scenery all around. The reservoir is surrounded by small hillocks which makes it more attractive. Boating here is an out of this world experience that takes only around Rs. 120 per head on a speed boat. You can also head in for a cruise but for that one has to wait for 20 minimum passengers. Best time to do boating is at the time of sunset. Sunset is so mesmerizing here as the waterbody lightens up with hues of sunlight. One can also stay in the Mtdc guest house with rooms overlooking the reservoir.

Katni-historical best place to visit in jabalpur

Another historical place around 4 hours from Jabalpur is Katni. The place is filled with ancient historical forts. So at first I headed on to Vijayraghavgarh fort in the town of Vijayraghavgarh. An ancient fort with beautiful architectural design, this place is a gem for all history lovers. Vijayraghavgarh fort was built in 19th century and has numerous mahals inside it. The beautiful structures and buildings are made of sandstone. The entry fee is free to this fort. Vijayraghavgarh is only 35 kms from Katni and falls on the route of Jabalpur to Khajuraho.

My next destination was Chaturyug Dhaam. Located 18 kms from the main town of Katni this is a 7 storey temple built recently. In each storey it has Yuga avatars of lord Vishnu. In Hindu mythology it is said that the age of the universe is four yugas namely Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapyar Yuga, and Kali Yuga after which the universe will get destroyed and again the cycle repeats. In each yugas Lord Vishnu will have an incarnation and take birth on earth to sort out the disbalance among human beings. This temple tells the story of all the yugas. It is the only kind of a temple in the world which has four incarnations of Lord Vishnu at one place. At the top of the temple there is the idol of Maa Durga. This holy place is a must visit destination for all travellers.

Another two beautiful places which you can visit on your trip to Katni is Kamakandala fort and Vishnu Varah temple. Kamakandala fort is an important historical place with beautiful architectures. The fort was built in 10th century by the Kalchuri dynasty. Vishnu varah temple describes the third incarnation of lord Vishnu and the temple is also of a lot of historical importance. These two temples signifies the rich historical past of India and Madhya Pradesh. Car can easily go upto the tourist spots so these two tourist spots are easily accessible by road, although the roads are narrow. The rock cut sandstone temples and forts are photogenic and are ideally located to capture some beautiful memories. The ethnic style buildings attract lots of visitors around the world.
